Freezing drizzle could create slippery roads in morning
Chicago area weather forecasts are warning travelers to watch out for potentially slippery roads tonight and Wednesday morning.
Areas are expected to see drizzle or freezing drizzle throughout the evening before mixing with or transitioning into wet snow overnight, according to an afternoon National Weather Service special weather statement.
Earlier Tuesday, National Weather Service meteorologist Casey Sullivan said the best chance for freezing drizzle will be further north up toward the Wisconsin border.
The "bulk" of the Chicago metro area will see between a half inch and an inch of snow, Sullivan said.
Light freezing drizzle and wet snow overnight and early Wednesday may force travelers to deal with slippery conditions, according to the weather statement.
Patchy, dense fog is also expected this evening across parts of northern Illinois west of Chicago.
