New Cooking School Opens at Elawa Farms

Hippocrates said "let food be thy medicine, let medicine be thy food," and integrative nutritionist Carol D'Anca couldn't agree more. Dedicated to arming individuals with the knowledge and skills to integrate plant based nutrition into their diets, D'Anca is proud to announce she will be moving her cooking school to Elawa Farm (1401 Middlefork Drive, Lake Forest), with a kick-off class on January 24th from 1-3 p.m.

"Elawa Farms offers a beautiful environment and facility for my cooking classes, as well as a remarkable sustainable farm for locally grown produce to support my program," says D'Anca.

CEO and Founder of The Academy of Plant Based Nutrition and Cooking, and Food Not Meds, D'Anca will also be launching a unique cooking series on "Plant Based Nutrition" offering individuals the support and education needed to address the challenges and limitations most people face when wanting to improve their diet and avoid chronic illness. A monthly series, beginning February 21st, will include everything from how to stock your pantry, to basic recipes for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Committed to providing nutritional strategies for preventing and reversing chronic illness, D'Anca combines theoretical knowledge with practical application to promote wellness and longevity. Attendees will be taught nutrition basics, providing a thorough understanding of the amazingly delicious recipes that are developed for each class, their ingredients and health benefits of both. Hands-on cooking lessons are followed where, participants will enjoy a meal, while having the opportunity to ask questions and network. As part of each class, participants receive educational hand-outs and recipes that can be used immediately in their own kitchens.

In addition to the class on January 24th, D'Anca's new cooking series on "Plant Based Nutrition" at Elawa Farms will begin on February 21st, followed by classes on March 4th and 28th, April 25th, and May 16th. Participants are asked to sign up for at least four in the series to make the most impact, although individual classes will also be available. AND THEN THERE IS ITALY! For those who want to add to their healthy cooking experience and immerse themselves into a culture of people who live a long purposeful life, D'Anca hosts a lifestyle and culture experience on the Amalfi Coast of Italy where her family of origin resides. Resulting from her background and dual citizenship with Italy, this trip is a "real" Italian experience where travelers get the opportunity to live the "Mediterranean way of Life" while staying at superb accommodations. Her 2015 trip departs on April 8 and returns April 17. For more information visit foodnotmeds.com or buonviaggioitalia.com. For further information and sign up contact info@foodnotmeds.com
