Senior Bowl still holding spot for Oregon QB Marcus Mariota

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - The Senior Bowl isn't giving up on Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota playing.

Executive director Phil Savage said Monday that "every indication has been that he has not been planning on coming." But he said that the Oregon quarterback hasn't signed with an agent.

If Mariota decides to play in Saturday's showcase game for NFL teams, he would be a fourth quarterback on the North team.

Savage joked that "our deadline is at 2:30 on Saturday afternoon" for Mariota to arrive.

Tennessee Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt is leading the North and has the second pick in the draft.

Mariota and Florida State's Jameis Winston are regarded as the two top quarterback prospects available. Both left after their junior seasons, but Mariota is eligible for the Senior Bowl because he graduated.
