Buffalo Grove wins twice at Lake Forest

Buffalo Grove's girls basketball team enjoyed a double-win day at the Martin Luther King tournament at Lake Forest High School on Monday.

The Bison (16-7), who finished 3-1 in the five-team round-robin, combined for 16 3-pointers in Monday's two wins.

In a 78-52 triumph over Lake Forest, BG connected 13 3-pointers.

Junior Maddie Welter led the way with 6 from long range to finish with 20 points just behind team leader and classmate Sammy Stejskal (21 points, including 6 of 7 free throws).

Bison senior Bri Kolbus (11 points) had three 3-pointers while teammates Julie Jambrone, Megan Gamber, Amanda Kowalski and Georgette Topalis each had one.

In an 80-43 win over Deerfield, Welter had all three of the Bison 3-pointers and finished with 11 points. Stejskal was again the team leader in points with 13 while Maddy Callahan had 12 and Kowalski 10.
