Illinois man, 18, killed and 3 others injured in I-80 crash
FERNLEY, Nev. (AP) - The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle rollover that killed an 18-year-old Illinois man and injured three others on Interstate 80 near Fernley.
Trooper David Gibson says Yeats Brannick of Riverside was killed in Saturday morning's crash that shut down I-80's westbound lanes for several hours about 2 miles east of Fernley.
Brannick was one of two passengers who were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected from the 2001 Volkswagen Beetle about 5:10 a.m.
A 17-year-old female from Riverside was being treated Monday at Renown Regional Medical Center for a non-life threatening back injury.
Gibson says the 18-year-old driver, Simonas Vanagas of Riverside, consented to a legal blood test after he was treated and released from the Reno hospital.
An 18-year-old passenger, Matthew Pioch of Kingston, Illinois, also was treated and released.
