Algonquin Commons to host Ladies Night Out

If you're a lady, you're in luck. Algonquin Commons is hosting a special Ladies Night Out event this month at the Randall Road mall that will feature discounts, food samples and fun.

The event will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 27, at the mall in Algonquin.

You are asked to stop into the mall office — which is located next to Aeropostale, some time between 5 and 6 p.m. that night to register.

Once you register, you'll get a special Ladies Night Out savings lanyard and a list of merchants participating in the event. You'll also be entered to win mall gift cards if you're at the mall office between 5 and 6 p.m.

As you head throughout the mall between 6 and 9 p.m., you'll encounter various special events that are for participants only.

Many of the participating merchants will have special discounts for the ladies sporting the lanyards, said Wendy Schifferer of Gilmore Marketing Concepts, which does marketing for Algonquin Commons.

Different merchants will be offering different fun perks too, for the Ladies Night Out ladies, she said.

Some will have food samples and drink samples. Others will have personal shoppers available and personalized fittings, Schifferer said.

There also will be special previews of newly-released items, how-to demonstrations, giveaways and more, she said.

“These treats are only for LNO participants for the evening only; it's a fun girlfriends night out,” she said.

The event is free and anyone is welcome to register between 5 and 6 p.m. at the mall office.

Free Wi-Fi:

If you're shopping at Geneva Commons, you won't need to use any of your data on your phone any more as you look up coupons, try to compare prices or post your latest deal on social media.

The mall now is offering free Wi-Fi to shoppers.

When you sign up, if you select the a-blast network, you'll get free Wi-Fi in all common areas, and you'll get exclusive mobile offers.

For signing up, you'll also get a free thank-you gift to start.

At the beginning, you'll get a voucher on your phone for one small cup of USensation or Frusion Bar-Mix-It at Yogen Fruz.

You can redeem it at the store, which is next to Stride Rite, by showing the voucher on your phone.

Giving Back:

It won't cost you anything to help out others at Algonquin Commons this month.

The mall is hosting a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31.

The Heartland Mobile Coach will be on hand at the mall during that time for the blood drive.

You can walk in to donate blood, however, appointments are appreciated, mall officials said.

To schedule your appointment, go to www.heartlandbc.org.

A photo ID is required to donate.

Anyone who donates that day will receive a $5 Algonquin Commons gift card.
