Kudos to residents of Magnolia Drive

Driving down the 4500 block of Magnolia Drive in Rolling Meadows was such a pleasure this holiday season, I would like to thank the residents there for enriching our season with their beautiful holiday light display.

The lights were synchronized to Christmas music when you set your car radio to the station the sign out front explained. Many cars were lined up to watch this amazing display every time I came by and it was all free, done by people who really must believe it is better to give than receive.

Than one evening I saw a man walk over to a donation box with a bag. I asked him what he was doing and if I could help. He said the neighbors were collecting nonperishable food donations to support the Bethel Food Pantry at Bethel Lutheran Church, serving Rolling Meadows, Arlington Heights and Palatine. Between the day after Thanksgiving and the weekend after New Year's the houses with this wonderful display of 80,000-plus lights (and still counting!) took over 1,100 pounds of food and also monetary donations.

Thank you friends on Magnolia Drive for reminding me the true meaning Of Christmas. You gave us and our families a wonderful, cheerful event with your light display, you gave back to the community though helping the food pantry help those most in need.

I would like to remember your fellowship and dedication to the greater good when I need to reflect on why I still believe. Thank You.
