Woman dies after giving birth to quadruplets

PHOENIX - A Phoenix woman has died hours after giving birth to quadruplets.

Nicole Todman, a family friend, says 36-year-old Erica Morales did not get to see her newborns before she passed away early Friday morning at Banner Good Samaritan hospital in Phoenix.

Todman says Morales was about seven months into her pregnancy when she delivered three girls and one boy Thursday afternoon.

She says Morales was initially hospitalized for high blood pressure and does not know what led to her passing.

Hospital officials said in a statement Saturday that their thoughts are with Morales' family, but they declined further comment.

Todman started a GoFundMe fundraising website for Morales' husband, Carlos, and the infants on Friday. The site had received more than $15,000 in donations as of Saturday afternoon.
