Google Chromebooks now part of technology lab at Saint Alphonsus Liguori

Saint Alphonsus Liguori Catholic School in Prospect Heights recently added twenty Google Chromebooks to its growing technology lab. The Parent Student Association generously purchased the Chromebooks for the school.

Principal Fred Muehleman is thrilled about the latest addition to the school's technology resources. "The Chromebooks, along with Google Docs, give our sixth through eighth grade students the same resources of the local high schools," said Muehleman. "This will help make for a seamless transition to high school," he added.

Saint Alphonsus teachers agree. The Chromebooks were used across the curriculum this week in Math, Spanish, and Literature classes. Spanish teacher Therese Weiss used the Chromebooks for an auditory exercise with sixth grade students. "The students were so engaged," she remarked.

Molly Principi, a Saint Alphonsus alum and middle school Literature teacher, delivered a quick Chromebook tutorial and her eighth grade students were off and running with a writing assignment. Principi remarked that that the Chromebooks along with Google Docs will allow students to begin a writing assignment at school, save it to Google Docs, finish it at home and store it in the Cloud. "There will no longer be a need for students to use flash drives, " she added.

The fleet of Chromebooks is a welcome addition to Saint Alphonsus Liguori's expanding technology resources, which currently include thirty iPads, desktop computers, smart boards and projectors.
