Outdoor Sports Show comes to Rosemont Wednesday

The 36th Chicago Outdoor Sports Show Wednesday through Sunday, Jan. 21-25, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, will provide the area a break from cabin fever.

The show will be held in conjunction with the 3rd Annual Chicagoland Gun Show & Outdoor Expo Friday through Sunday, sponsored by the United States Concealed Carry Association, National Rifle Association and Safer USA. Information is at chicagolandgunshow.com.

The Outdoor Sports Show will feature dozens of fishing and hunting seminars, several new family-friendly attractions, and hundreds of vendors and exhibitors. Attendees will have an opportunity to shop for deals on RVs, boats, fishing tackle, archery, outfitters, wildlife art, hunting supplies, charters, canoes, kayaks, gun safes, knives, taxidermy and other items. Tickets are $12 at the door and $10 online, with a variety of discounts and deals available. Hours are 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Special programs include:

• 3-D Archery Range and Tournament, designed for hunters and target shooters, modern bow hunters and traditional archers. There is a fee to enter and cash prizes will be awarded to the winners.

• Bow Fishing Range

• Expert Musky Panel

• Rosemont Boat & RV Pavilion, showcasing the latest boats and RVs

• Big E TV Pavilion. Host Patrick and Co-host Brandon Eger will discuss their latest outfitter adventures.

• Ducks Unlimited Conservation Day Saturday with kids activities and free seminars

• Fire & Ice Expo Pavilion, a one-stop shop for creating the ultimate man cave, campsite or backyard barbecue. Industry experts will also share their man cave designs, camping survival tactics and wild game recipes.

• American Fly Fishing School Casting Pond led by Captain Mike Corblies, director of the American Fly Fishing School

• Historical Fishing Display

• The Hawg Trough 5000 gallon mobile bass aquarium, hosting fishing demonstrations by professionals

Special Exhibits

Family fun events will include:

• Dan Armitage, teaching kids how to fish and outdoors safety, including Kids 411 and Ice Fishing 411

• Chauncey's Great Outdoors World, a place to learn about and get questions answered about fishing, hunting, camping, napping in the hammock

• Kids Zone, a learning center for the next generation of outdoor sports enthusiasts

• Kids Archery Range

• Catch and release trout pond
