Lincoln Park Zoo sets attendance record for holiday season

CHICAGO (AP) - The Lincoln Park Zoo set a record for attendance at its holiday season celebration.

Officials said Wednesday that 502,000 people visited the zoo during the recent "ZooLights Presented by ComEd and PNC Bank."

Dana Jussaume is the zoo's director of sales and events. She says the record is a holiday gift for the zoo. She says ZooLights has transformed from a holiday-light show to a "multigenerational tradition" in its 20 years.

The event included more than two million lights. Families decorated cookies and created crafts in the Kovler Lion House, watched ice sculptors and saw Santa at Helen Brach Primate House, skated at Farm-in-the-Zoo and gazed at the city's skyline from the Nature Boardwalk.

Other sponsors were Louis Glunz Beers Inc. and Sundance Vacations.
