DePaul gives women's hoops coach Bruno extension to 2020

CHICAGO (AP) - DePaul has extended women's basketball coach Doug Bruno's contract through the 2019-20 season.

The school announced the one-year extension on Wednesday. Bruno has coached at the school for 29 years and won 572 games at his alma mater.

The Blue Demons have reached the NCAA tournament each of the past 12 seasons. Last year, they won the Big East regular season and conference tournament championship.

DePaul, which leads the nation in scoring with an average of 90 points, named its home court after Bruno in 2010.

The 64-year-old coach also spent two years coaching the Chicago Hustle in the inaugural women's pro basketball league in the late 1970s.

He is 572-306 in his career at DePaul.
