Linklater, Anderson, Eastwood among Directors Guild nominees

LOS ANGELES - Golden Globe winner Richard Linklater is among the five Directors Guild Award nominees for his film "Boyhood."

"The Grand Budapest Hotel" director Wes Anderson and "Birdman" director Alejandro González Inarritu were also nominated for outstanding directorial achievement in feature film.

The final two nominees announced Tuesday were a bit unexpected, including Morten Tyldum for "The Imitation Game" and Clint Eastwood for "American Sniper."

The awards are a formidable predictor of the eventual Oscar recipient, whose nominations will be announced Thursday.

"Gone Girl" director David Fincher and "Selma" director Ava DuVernay were noticeably absent from the slate. Both were nominated for a Golden Globe and the Critics' Choice Movie Awards.

Winners for the 67th annual Directors Guild awards will be announced at a dinner on Feb. 7.

Clint Eastwood was nominated for the Directors Guild Award for "American Sniper."
