Chicago man charged in fatal beating of 1-year-old boy

CHICAGO (AP) - A Chicago man is facing charges in the fatal beating of a 1-year-old boy.

The Chicago Tribune Reports that (http://trib.in/1w8QhUy ) 28-year-old Danits Porter is charged with one count of aggravated battery to a child after allegedly beating the boy on Tuesday. The child died of his injuries on Friday.

Authorities say they're working to update the charges since the boy's death.

The Cook County medical examiner's office says the boy, Johnny Kimble, suffered fractures on both sides of his skull, broken ribs, a lacerated liver, internal bleeding and had numerous burn marks.

The office says an autopsy conducted on Saturday was inconclusive, pending further investigation.

Police did not comment on the relationship between Porter and the boy.
