More snow expected for much of suburbs tonight into Monday morning
More snow is in the forecast for much of the area Sunday evening into Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
According to the weather service, much of the suburbs are likely to receive 1 to 2 inches of snow. The snow has begun and will be at its steadiest in the evening.
During the worst of it, visibility will be under 1 mile, so drivers are advised to use extra caution, according to the weather service.
However, Lake County residents might not have to break out the snow shovel Monday morning because they are only expected to receive less than an inch of snow.
Also, the weather service issued a hazardous weather alert that conditions Sunday night could cause ice jams on suburban waterways. Ice jams can create rapidly fluctuating river levels which could lead to localized flooding.
