Man sentenced to 60 years in slaying of Chicago teen

CHICAGO (AP) - A Chicago man who shot and killed a teenager when he opened fire on a group of people on the front porch of a South Side home has been sentenced to 60 years in prison.

In a news release, Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez's office says 24-year-old Shawn Rudolph was sentenced this week by Cook County Circuit Judge Diane Cannon.

The sentencing comes after a jury found Rudolph guilty of first-degree murder in the Sept. 30, 2010 shooting death of 15-year-old Andrew Powell.

Prosecutors alleged during the trial that Powell was with several people on the porch when Rudolph emerged from a gangway across the street and opened fire. Powell was shot in the head.
