Harper College to hold live auction this weekend

A live auction will be held featuring hundreds of pieces of furniture, appliances and other items being cleared out to make way for an upcoming building renovation at Harper College.

Obenauf Auction Service Inc. will begin the surplus auction at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at Building D, located on the north side of Harper's main campus, 1200 W. Algonquin Road, in Palatine. Doors open at 8 a.m. The event is open to the public.

Items for sale include office and classroom furniture, bookcases, chairs, computer and drafting tables, desks, display cases, file and storage cabinets, kitchen appliances, lockers, magazine racks, smart podiums, white boards and other miscellaneous pieces.

All purchases must be removed by Saturday, Jan. 24. Parking is available in lots 8 through 11, and bid winners will be instructed where to drive to the pick-up site.

An 8 percent buyer's fee and 9 percent sales tax will be charged.

Building D is one of the original six buildings on campus opened in 1969 and has remained virtually unchanged. It's currently undergoing a $46 million renovation over the next year to provide enhanced accessibility and accommodate new lecture halls, general classrooms and student study and common areas.
