Palatine, Prospect pick up MSL wins
Palatine d. Elk Grove: The Pirates' boys swimming team had double individual winners in sophomore Alex Bartosik and freshman Jacob Klein in a 130-47 victory at Elk Grove on Friday in a Mid-Suburban League crossover.
Bartosik won the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.48) and the 500 free (5:02.23), while Klein won the 200 IM (2:08.65) and 100 breaststroke (1:09.25).
Elk Grove senior Colin Williams focused on the freestyles, winning the 50 in 22.43, the 100 in 49.16.
Palatine also got wins from Jacob Baran (100 back, 1:00.47), Adam Smith (100 fly, 1:00.86) and Dylan Wilken (diving, 168.45).
Prospect d. Schaumburg: Michael Morikado won a pair of races (50-meter free, 100 fly) and the Knights got a 1-2-3 finish in the 100-meter back from Ryan Lakner, Asher Ginnodo and Apurva Belsare on the way ot a 115-71 victory at Schaumburg.
Evan Wahlen won the 200 free (2:09.55) and the 400 free (4:34.97) for Schaumburg and joined Jack Pyde, Matt Kelland and Tyler Gustafson on the winning 200 and 400 free relays.
Anthony Liva (253.70) and Stephen Schmit (223.65) gave Prospect a 1-2 finish in diving.
Maine West d. Maine East: The host Warriors won their first Central Suburban League dual with a 103-64 decision.
Phillip Vaccarello won both the 50-yard free (23.85) and 100 free (51.65), and Chris Hernandez took top honors in the 200 IM (2:15.28) and 100 breast (1:09.82) for Maine West.
