Local composer, percussionist to perform at St. Charles library Jan. 11

The St. Charles Public Library's Sunday Concert Series will host composer and drummer Brian Baxter and his wife, harpist Emily Wren Baxter, at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, in the library's Huntley Meeting Room.

Baxter will perform selections from his album "Book of Drum," a collection of original tracks exploring diverse sounds and rhythms of the drum set through the lens of his life in Chicago. Wren will perform a trio of harp pieces written by her husband, Brian.

Baxter co-founded the Chicago Composers Orchestra, a group dedicated to the performance and advocacy of orchestral music by living composers, and is the director of operations with the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra. He holds degrees in music composition from Roosevelt University's Chicago College of Performing Arts and Illinois Wesleyan University. He has received five consecutive American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers PLUS Awards from 2009-2013. To hear more of Brian Baxter's music, visit brianbaxtermusic.com.
