The Lake County Forest Preserve District will open the Adlai E. Stevenson II Historic Home near Mettawa to the public for free tours Feb. 5. The day is Adlai E. Stevenson II Day in Illinois, honoring the former governor, ambassador and presidential candidate. The house will be open from 11 a.m. to noon and again from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Registration is required. The house is on St. Mary's Road, south of Route 60.
