The Zonta Club of Oak Brook announces scholarship availability

Applications for the 2015 Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Award are now available from the Zonta Club of Oak Brook, IL. The application can be downloaded and completed directly from the club webpage: http://www.zonta-oakbrook.org/Awards.html. Applications should be mailed to the club mailbox (as listed in the application) to the attention of Donna Joss and must be received by February 28, 2105. Applicants aged 16-19 on the 1st April each year, living in a Zonta district/region at the time of application are eligible to apply.

The local winning recipient will earn an award of $1000 from the Zonta Club of Oak Brook. Her application is then forwarded to District 6 (comprising clubs in Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana) for consideration of a higher prize amount.

The goal of the Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Award Program is to encourage more young women to participate in public affairs by recognizing a young woman's commitment to the volunteer sector, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements and a dedication to the advancement of the status of women. Applicants are asked to write about their voluntary commitment to their school and to their community and to reflect on the problems limiting the advancement of the status of women in their own country and worldwide.
