Elgin 360 photo club shoots for the stars

Capturing the vast beauty of a star field or the detail of the moon's Sea of Tranquility can truly be the Final Frontier for many photographers. What equipment do you need? How do you best determine the ideal location to shoot from? These and other questions are what all good astrophotographers need to ask before setting out on their first star trek.

Elgin 360 Photography Club's shooting star James Kalemis will discuss these and other astrophotography topics at the club's first meeting of 2015 at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, at Side Street Studio Arts, 15 Ziegler Court in downtown Elgin. The meeting is free and open to the photographers of all experience levels from novices to experienced professionals.

January meeting attendees are also invited to a pre-meeting dinner beforehand at Elgin Public House, 219 E. Chicago St. in downtown Elgin, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
