Kassandra Jamie, 12, of Streamwood, lights candles at a celebration honoring Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas, in Des Plaines in early December. Whether in Southern France or Des Plaines, Illinois, I always walk away feeling good about people and know that hope and prayer are alive and well.
