Gurnee cops want information on mugging attempt
Gurnee police say they want information about a robbery attempt that occurred Saturday morning in a bank parking lot.
Authorities announced Monday that a 58-year-old woman was targeted in the lot of Fifth Third Bank, 7500 Route 132. It happened about 9:40 a.m. Saturday.
Police said the woman was walking from her car in the parking lot to the north entrance of the bank when a man ran up to her and sprayed her in the face with some type of chemical irritant. He then began to punch her in the face and tried unsuccessfully to take her purse and bank deposit, according to authorities.
The attacker is a black man last seen wearing a puffy black jacket with fur-lined hood. He ran west from the bank, according to police.
