Police: Naperville man's punch shatters car window

A Naperville man is accused of punching and shattering a car window early Saturday after an argument in downtown Naperville, police said.

Jack Winston Ancel, 29, was arrested about 2 a.m. Saturday and charged with misdemeanor criminal damage to a motor vehicle, Sgt. Bill Davis said Monday.

Ancel is accused of punching the back passenger window of a 1998 Volvo as its driver started to pull away from the parking lot at 44 W. Van Buren Ave. Davis said the punch happened about 1:40 a.m. after Ancel got into an argument with others he knew, and those in the Volvo began to drive away. No one else was cited.

The altercation has not been tied to any specific bar or establishment in downtown, Davis said. Police reports indicate the people involved in the argument had been drinking, but Davis said there was no mention of whether intoxication was a factor.

Davis said Ancel is being mailed a notice to appear in DuPage County court.
