On Friday, Jan. 30, the public is invited to attend a reception celebrating the second annual District 155 "Cre8" Art Show from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lakeside Legacy Arts Park, 401 Country Club Road in Crystal Lake.

Featuring the work of the Crystal Lake High School District 155 students, the walls of the Lakeside Legacy Arts Park will be decorated with works from the artists of tomorrow - artists from your community!

Student work from Crystal Lake Central, Crystal Lake South, Cary-Grove, and Prairie Ridge high schools will be available to be viewed between Jan. 12-30. Stop by to see the show during gallery hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

The closing reception will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30. The public is welcome and encouraged to join the local art educators in celebrating the inspiring talent of local youth. The Sage Gallery will be hosting live music provided by students from Cary-Grove High School.

In addition to the high school work, select eighth-graders will be featured as part of the future District 155 artists showcase.

Judd Shutt, an art educator at both Prairie Ridge and Crystal Lake Central high schools, speaks for all of the local art educators when saying that they are "enthusiastic about sharing the impressive creative endeavors of our students with supportive members of our community. We are immensely proud of our student's achievements and grateful for the opportunity to work with the Lakeside Legacy Arts Park to reward them through this experience."

Siobhan Cottone, Lakeside's executive director, feels as though "the walls have come alive with the talents of emerging artists. At Lakeside, we strive to inspire and encourage creativity in people of all ages, and this inaugural District 155 show is a celebration of student artists, as well as a celebration of the incredible local teachers!"

Bring family, friends, artists, and art admirers to this inspiring show featuring artists from your community showcasing their talents that inspire all to look more brightly toward the future. During the closing reception, the photography students from Crystal Lake South will be running a fun, interactive photo area that will show off their skills as well as create a fun keepsake for you!

Parents can take photos with their kids, and students can take photos with friends, and all of the photos taken will be available to download off Crystal Lake South's "Smug Mug" page. Show your support for emerging artists by coming to the closing reception or visiting the Lakeside Legacy Arts Park while the show is hanging.
