Gay couples should respect others' beliefs

On the issue of gay marriage, I am against it and I have voted for people who I thought would vote against it. I am not against gay people. Two of my dearest friends were gay, and I loved them very much.

It looks like society will condone gay marriage. Now we must get along without pushing our ideas on one another. If a gay couple wants to marry, they should go to a justice of the peace, a judge, or even a church that agrees with them to get married.

I just heard some judges are retiring or stepping down because they do not believe in gay marriage and do not want to perform the ceremony. Why should they have to do this? I am sure gay couples can find someone to marry them without causing a judge to give up his career. I respect the judges for standing up for what they believe and sacrificing so much.

I heard on the news that a bakery went out of business because they refused to bake a cake for a gay wedding. If gay people want to get married, there are plenty of bakeries that will serve them. What happened to people's right to say no? Gay couples can have marriages without pushing others to be a part of it.

Let's all get along. People who are forced to do things will be resentful. You cannot force people to love you or your ideas. Let's be respectful of one another - that is the only way we will get along and go forward.
