YWCA Lake County distributes toys to families in need

The YWCA of Lake County, in conjunction with Home Depot - Gurnee Store No. 1922, the Toys for Tots Foundation and Catholic Charities-Lake County Region, distributed more than 400 toys to 75 families in need throughout Lake County.

The Dec. 22 event was the culmination of a yearlong partnership that has spanned nine years between the four organizations that serve needy families throughout Lake County.

YWCA Lake County President and CEO Janice Bennett said, "The YWCA this past year was able to provide more than 65,000 individual services to women and families with children in Lake County, and this event is the culmination of our holiday volunteerism that brings members from all corners of our community together in the spirit of the season."

Founded in 1922, the YWCA Lake County is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
