Local youth charity brings little league baseball to children of Kenya
Since its inception in 2012, Northbrook-based youth charity Gear for Goals has been aiming to bring the joy of sports to impoverished children around the world. Led by renowned pediatric chiropractor Dr. Warren Bruhl, Gear for Goals continues its mission to bring hope to kids in need by working with local leaders in Kenya to foster Mt. Kilimanjaro Little League baseball in East Africa.
Gear for Goals has been developing the game in this region for nearly 2 years. Bruhl is the Executive Director of the Gear for Goals project of Dreamweaver International.
Mt. Kilimanjaro Little League is a sanctioned little league through Little League International and is open to both girls and boys, currently boasting 2 all girls teams and 4 all boys teams.
Gear for Goals director Bruhl plans to return January of 2015 to continue working to further develop the program.
"Sport equals hope equals opportunity is what we have come to see when we bring sports gear to kids in need," states Bruhl. "Children around the world are desperately in need of receiving sports gear to help fuel their dreams, hopes and opportunities and we urge the community to help by donating sports gear to benefit kids during our upcoming trip to Kenya."
