Prospect Heights upgrades city signs
Prospect Heights is installing new signs throughout the city to make sure visitors know which Northwest suburb they are in and to raise awareness for the small town.
Five new gateway signs have already been installed and another five to 10 will be added later this year along with new branded marquee signs at the city's entrances, said city administrator Bill Balling.
"Prospect Heights is still a newer community compared to our neighbors so brand consistency is really important," Balling said. "We think we're an interesting town that has things to contribute, but a lot of people don't know where we're at."
Balling did not have immediate figures on how much the new signs are costing the city.
Prospect Heights, which has a population of about 16,000, is trying to attract new visitors and let others know where the town is, he said.
"We do have a rather irregular boundary and people don't always recognize it," Balling said. "The signs looks pretty snappy I think."
The city is looking for feedback on the new signs and officials can be reached at (847) 398-6070.
