Wildlife photo contest now accepting entries

The Fox Valley Wildlife Center is accepting entries for its 2015 Wildlife Photo Contest. Prizes will be awarded for top five photos.

This contest is open to amateur photographers only; anyone who does not make more than 25 percent of their yearly income from taking and/or selling photographs.

Each entry must be accompanied with an entry form and all submissions must be received at the Fox Valley Wildlife Center, P.O. Box 385, Elburn, IL 60119, by Friday, Jan. 9.

Winners will be announced at the annual Winter Dinner/Auction, being held at Fox Valley Country Club in North Aurora. All contest entries will be displayed at the event and the winning entries will be placed at www.FoxValleyWildlife.org in February. Individuals with winning photographs will be notified prior to the dinner.

The photo subject must be Illinois wildlife (including mammals, birds, insects, amphibians, reptiles, fish, etc.). No human contact, please; Domestics (cats, dogs, cows, etc.) and zoo animals are not eligible.

Entries may be color or black and white images, unmounted and unframed. Print size must be 5 by 7 or 8 by 10 inches. You must be the sole author and owner of the copyright in all photos entered, and images must not have been digitally altered in any way other than necessary burning, dodging and cropping.

Up to three photos may be entered. The entry fee is $10 per photo.

Label all photo submissions with your name, address, telephone number, email address, a title for the photo, where the photo was taken and the equipment used to take it.

These photos will not be returned. All photographs will become the property of the Fox Valley Wildlife Center and may be used for nonprofit publications, Web pages, presentations and sales.

Judges appointed by the Fox Valley Wildlife Center will choose the winners. First- to fifth-place awards will be chosen. Include the entry form, available at www.FoxValleyWildlife.org, and the entry fee for each photo. Make checks payable to the Fox Valley Wildlife Center.
