WIM Fox Valley presents Andrew Grams, up close and personal

Women in Management Fox Valley presents a special "up close and personal" interview with Andrew Grams, music director of the Elgin Symphony Orchestra since June 2013, at the WIM Fox Valley meeting on Thursday, Jan. 8.

The luncheon will be held at the Elgin Country Club, 2575 Weld Road, Elgin with networking at 11:30 a.m., luncheon and program at noon. Meetings adjourn promptly at 1:30 p.m. Cost for members is $22 and $25 for nonmembers.

Area women business owners and managers are welcome to attend this month's presentation. Reservations must be made for attendance online at www.wimfoxvalley.org.

Grams is considered one of America's most promising and talented young conductors. He has already appeared with many of the great orchestras of the world, including the Cleveland Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony, and many more throughout the United States. Internationally, he has conducted the Montreal Symphony, the Vancouver Symphony, the BBC Symphony Orchestra London, and many other renowned Orchestras throughout Europe. He recently returned from a trip to Australia where he conducted the Melbourne Symphony.

Maestro Grams was a protégé of Franz Welser-Moest and served as assistant conductor of the Cleveland Orchestra from 2004-07.

Grams made his first subscription series appearance with the Cleveland Orchestra in May 2006 conducting Schoenberg's Second Chamber Symphony. He later conducted his first series of full-length subscription concerts with the Cleveland Orchestra in November 2006. He also led programs with the orchestra at the Blossom Music Center in 2006 and 2007 and returned to lead the orchestra again at the same location in July 2010.

The interview will be conducted by Cheryl Wendt, a WIM member and past president, who is the director of marketing and development for the Elgin Symphony Orchestra.

Mecum has been a member of WIM Fox Valley since 1997. A retired professional, she is the former Elgin City Clerk.

Women in Management Fox Valley was founded in 1984. Members are comprised of business owners, managers and professionals in a variety of categories, including: academic; corporate; entrepreneur; government; licensed, degreed professional; and nonprofit.
