Lake County's Lawlor gets dirty

Lake County Board Chairman Aaron Lawlor put on a water-resistant jumpsuit, a safety helmet and thigh-high boots yesterday to help clean solid waste out of a basin at a water treatment plant in Vernon Hills. Man accused of sexually abusing minor in Naperville

An Oswego man has been charged with patronizing an underage prostitute, according to documents filed with the Will County circuit clerk's office. An arrest warrant was issued for Ray Saleh, 51, of Oswego after charges were filed in Naperville. Full story.

Aurora man charged with theft from churches

An Aurora man was charged with stealing from two different churches after police say he sold stolen metal pieces to a nearby scrapyard. While investigating that theft, police connected Terry Ayala to the theft of money and an ATM card from another church, authorities said. Full story.

Fire breaks out at Wendy's in Vernon Hills

An electrical fire closed the Wendy's Monday afternoon in Vernon Hills, officials said. Firefighters were called to the fast-food restaurant about 2:30 p.m. and arrived to find smoke inside the eatery on the 200 block of Townline Road, officials said in a news release. Full story.
