Animal tracking at Morraine Hills State Park

Join Naturalist Stacy Iwanicki in search of deer, raccoon, possum, mink, weasel, fox, coyote, crow and other animal tracks from 10:30 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Jan. 3, at Moraine Hills State Park in McHenry. Iwanicki will discuss how animals walk to produce different track patterns as well as prints, scat and other signs they leave behind. Dress for the weather in layers and warm hiking boots. Adults and attentive kids ages 6 and older are welcome. Registration is requested at (815) 344-1294 or dnr.volobog@illinois.gov. Group size is limited. Walk-ins are welcome but the event may be canceled if minimum registration is not met 24 hours before. Moraine Hills is at 1510 S. River Road. Participants will meet in the Northern Woods parking area.
