Train fans young and old check out Sun City holiday display

Crowds filled the Sun City Huntley Prairie Lodge on Sunday for their last chance to view this year's model train holiday display hosted by Sun City residents and train enthusiasts.

The Kishwaukee Valley & Eakin Creek Model Railroad Club finished its 14th year of entertaining holiday crowds with their show at the Prairie Lodge.

"We're getting more and more people every year," said Earl Maha, a club member who helped with the three-day setup. "We are all getting older, but as long as we can, we'll do it."

The Prairie Lodge had a steady stream of young and old visitors circling the multilevel layout. Four different gauge, or size, trains ran continually on the tracks.

"I think it's amazing because it's got a library and a bakery," said 8-year-old Julia Ronning, who is in town from Minnesota visiting her grandparents, David and Carol Langseth.

The Kishwaukee Valley & Eakin Model Train Club has a permanent setup in the lower level of the Millgrove Woodshop in Sun City. The annual holiday setup begins the day after Thanksgiving.
