Elgin Theatre Company to present "Leading Ladies"

The Elgin Theatre Company will present "Leading Ladies," a comedy by Ken Ludwig, on Jan. 9-25, at Kimball Street Theater, at Kimball Street and Dundee Avenue in Elgin.

The play, directed by Madeline Franklin, will explore how far would you go for three million dollars.

Set in York, Pennsylvania in 1958, this farce centers on two down-on-their-luck Shakespearean actors, Leo Clark and Jack Gable. The pair discovers through a newspaper that Florence, an older ailing woman, has been unable to find Max and Steve, her sister's children who moved away to England as children, in order to include them in her multimillion dollar inheritance. They decide to pose as Max and Steve to claim portions of it. When they discover that "Max" and "Steve" are actually "Maxine" and "Stephanie," they continue on, undaunted, in drag.

Performances will be at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $15 or $12 for youth and seniors. For reservations or information, call (847) 741-0532, email tickets@inil.com.
