Hersey 47, Glenbard South 39: Hersey coach Mary Fendley could not recall in her 16 seasons losing two prominent players to injury (senior captains Annie Korff and Juliette Vainisi) during the same week.

First, Vainisi suffered a dislocated elbow at practice and then Korff went out of Friday's Wheaton North tournament game early in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury ankle.

That meant Fendley went with the final six minutes with four sophomores (Kelly Weyhrich, Gina Miklasz, Claire Gritt and Carly Cooper) and a junior (Maggie Berigan) as the Huskies registered their 10th win in 14 games.

Sophomore guard Gina Mikalsz led the Huskies with 12 points followed by classmate Claire Gritt (11). Cooper, Kelly Weyhrich and Korff all finished with 6 points.

"Annie and Juliette will have to be helpful to us on the sidelines for a while," Fendley said of two of her top scorers. "I don't expect them back (today). I know they will do everything they can to help the team however they can."

Schaumburg 66, Wheaton North 58: The Saxons (6-7) won their second straight game at the Wheaton North tourney defeating the host school behind senior Jada Blackwell's season-high 24 points.

Paige Alt added 17 and Mallory Gerber 12 for the Saxons while teammates Brittany Reinhart and Tatiana Doroskin chipped in 7 apiece.

Elk Grove 50, West Aurora 47: Senior Amber Lindfors scored 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for Elk Grove (5-7) at the Wheaton North tournament.

O'Rayn Macavoy added 11 points and 8 rebounds for the Grens and teammate Sarah Pauscher chipped in 9 points.

St. Viator 41, Elmwood Park 22: Senior Jess Holhweg and freshman Myia Clark each scored 11 points to lead the Lions (5-8) in their own Tom and Megan Blenner Holiday Classic at St. Viator High School.

Grace McNamara and Olivia Solimene each chipped in 5 points for the Lions who will face East St. Louis Lincoln for the championship today.

Leyden 48, Maine East 32: The Eagles (6-7) notched their second straight win at the Tom and Megan Blenner Holiday Classic as senior Alondra Chavarria scored a game-high 22 points. Autumn McGee chipped in 8 points and Artasia Gusman 7 for Leyden.

Buffalo Grove 53, Maine West 33: Sammy Stejskal scored 16 of her game-high 19 points in the second half as Buffalo Grove (11-1) won its opening game of the Dundee-Crown Charger Classic.

Senior Julie Jambrone chipped in 9 points for BG converting one of the team's three 3-pointers. Maddie Welter and Bri Kolbus had the others.

Freshman Allison Pearson scored 14 points to lead the Warriors (4-8), who were without injured junior guard Monica Liwag.

Stevenson 59, Barrington 48: Megan Talbot (15 points, 14 rebounds, 3 assists) led the Fillies (5-7) in their opening-round game of the Dundee-Crown Charger Classic.

Kelly Katis (3 assists) and Tamara Zivak (2 rebounds) each chipped in 8 points for the Fillies while Alex Van Ryne had 6 points and 3 rebounds. Bailee McDonald grabbed 6 rebounds.

Wheeling 54, Palatine 38: Senior Deanna Kuzmanic (6 steals, 4 assists, 4 rebounds) scored a game-high 25 points, connecting for five 3-pointers as Wheeling (11-4) tuned up for today's championship game with Warren.

Hannah Drobowski (18 points), Melissa Claver (9) and Hailey Dammeier 4) were the other scorers for the Wildcats, now 4-0 in the tourney.

Palatine (6-8) was led by Monica Masini (16 points), who fired in a pair of 3-pointers and also collected 9 rebounds.

Lake Park 58, Hoffman Estates 52: Mary Saitta (17 points, five 3-pointers), Monraia Wilson (12 points) and Tayler Williams (10 points)

were top scorers for Hoffman (3-10) in the third round of the Mundelein tournament,
