Wildfire in Lincolnshire reopens after Christmas fire
Though a small kitchen fire canceled Christmas dinner at Wildfire Steaks, Chops & Seafood in Lincolnshire Thursday afternoon, the restaurant reopened in time for a normal Friday, Manager Greg Nemeth said.
No one was injured and no structural damage was caused by the fire that began about 1:30 p.m. Thursday. But there simply were too many things to sign off on for Wildfire to recover in time for Christmas itself, Nemeth said.
Nevertheless, the restaurant was open by its normal time of 11:15 a.m. Friday and experiencing its typical weekday business through the afternoon, he said.
On Thursday, Batallion Chief Scott Knesley of the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District said that the kitchen's sprinkler systems had extinguished most of the fire before fire crews arrived. Firefighters took apart some of the duct system by the stove and oven to put out the rest of the flames.
