New Businesses, and Expanded Operations in Historic Downtown Long Grove Featuring Art, Food, and Wine

The Long Grove Business and Community Partners (LGBCP) is proud to welcome new additions to their array of charming shops, exceptional full service restaurants and fast casual dining, including businesses supporting art, and gourmet food. New openings in Long Grove include Epilogue gallery and Galena Canning Company. Plus, Broken Earth Winery expands its operation.

Long Grove resident, Rachel Perkal is the proud owner of Epilogue (130 Old McHenry Road), Long Grove's newest art gallery. "Epilogue is a new type of gallery that heavily emphasizes original hand-crafted and giftable art from North America, with a selection of European-made items available in store," says Rachel. The gallery doubles as a real artist studio space, and beginning in late January, Epilogue will offer adult art classes including photography, abstract photography, jewelry-making and rejuvenation, pastel drawing, clay workshops and more. Epilogue also supports artisans through representation. Rachel is pleased to represent Lyman Whitaker, an internationally renowned wind sculptor, whose outdoor sculptures will soon be on display at the gallery. Galena Canning Company, a longtime favorite of Long Grove festival-goers, recently opened a brick and mortar shop in downtown Long Grove (217 Robert Parker Coffin Road). Although many of Chef Ivo Puidak's gourmet products have been sold in Long Grove, for over 20 years, by adding a permanent location fans of Galena Canning Company can now easily access homemade, fat-free, gluten-friendly barbecue sauces, salsas, dressings & marinades, mustards, pepper jellies, butters, pickled vegetables and more. Among the most popular items are: black bean and corn salsa, "Good & Evil" bread and butter pickles with jalapeƱo, and blueberry rhubarb butter. After opening Broken Earth Winery this past fall (219 Robert Parker Coffin Road), the Forsythe Family, new owners and long-time residents of Long Grove, have expanded their operation. The expansion includes a comfortable lounge area, equipped with TVs and two fireplaces, making the space perfect for parties and private events. "We are thrilled with the overwhelmingly positive response and support Broken Earth Winery has received within the Long Grove community," states Marsha Forsythe. Since opening, Broken Earth has added new wines to it's expansive list, including Broken Earth's 2010 Limited Reserve Tempranillo, 2010 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, 2010 Reserve Petit Verdot, and a 2011 Moscato. Additional new wine selections include a Single Vineyard Shimman Canyon 2012 Chardonnay and Pull 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot blend. To complement their wine selections, Broken Earth offers savory cheeses and wine-friendly snacks, along with gift items and accessories, such as cheese boards, knives and wine racks.

NOW IS THE PERFECT TIME

Never before has there been a better time to conduct business in Long Grove. Recent retirements by merchants and landlords have made prominent spaces available for lease, sale, or development for the first time in 30 years. These spaces are suitable for the smallest of boutique style businesses to more established businesses looking to expand, and for fast casual dining to restaurants seating 50 and more.
