Lake in the Hills searching for hit-and-run SUV

Lake in the Hills police are searching for the driver of what a witness described as a large, green SUV that police said caused a three-car crash on Randall Road.

Police said the crash occurred at 6:35 p.m. Sunday in the northbound lanes of Randall just north of Miller Road, but the SUV that apparently caused it left the scene.

Sgt. Mark Miller said Tuesday that the SUV improperly changed lanes Sunday evening and hit the rear driver's side of a black Honda Accord. The Accord then lost control and crashed into a Honda Civic that also was traveling north, Miller said.

No one was injured, but Miller said the Accord had to be towed because of the crash, and the Civic suffered damage on the driver's side from being sideswiped. A witness told police the vehicle that left the scene was a large SUV, possibly a green Ford Expedition.

Miller said it should have damage to the front passenger side bumper with possible black paint transfer from the crash. It last was seen heading west of Randall on Village Road, which is one block north of where the crash occurred.

Anyone who has information about the SUV or sees it is asked to call Lake in the Hills police at (847) 960-7400.
