Two Geneva Library trustees resign
The Geneva Public Library board is down two trustees, as President Esther Steel and Secretary Susan Shivers resigned last week.
Steel quit because she has moved out of the district.
Shivers did not give a reason in the letter of resignation she submitted to the board, and could not be reached for comment Tuesday.
Steel's term expires in April 2017. The library board is is discussing how to handle appointing someone to the vacancy, library director Christine Lazaris said.
Steel also could not be reached for comment.
The board decided not to appoint someone to the Shivers' vacancy, since the election is close.
Robert Shiffler is the new president of the board.
In the April election, voters will select trustees for four, 4-year terms and one 2-year term.
Shiffler and incumbent Patricia Lord, as well as Dana Hintz and Ellen Fultz-Schmid, filed for the 4-year terms. Zachary Craft, who was appointed to the board in August, filed a petition to be elected to the remaining two years of the term of Steven Andersson. Andersson resigned, as he pursued election in November as the 65th state House district representative.
Craft was formerly known as Zachary Ploppert, but changed his name in September, taking his mother's maiden name. He ran in 2013 and 2011 for Geneva City Council.
Current trustee Travis Ketterman did not seek re-election.
