Robert Klunk celebrates new exhibition at the David Adler Music & Arts Center
Celebrated Chicago artist Robert Klunk returned this month to the David Adler Music & Arts Center with a new exhibition of hand-colored copper etchings.
Inspired by his many travels and love for architectural history, Klunk's work is exceptionally detailed.
"My etchings have many levels to them. They are multifaceted and draw you into the story of the piece," says Klunk. They can be "dreamlike and have a William Blake quality to them."
Klunk, a longtime friend of the David Adler Music & Arts Center, is recognized for his signature etching of the Chicago Museum Campus, for "Butterfly Chair," which welcomes guests to the Field Museum, and for "Chicago 2000," a watercolor commissioned by the state of Illinois to celebrate the new millennium.
His conceptual sketches, handmade paper and custom matting, which uses salvaged frames, make his work instantly recognizable.
"We are delighted to have Robert Klunk's return to the Adler Center this winter," said Molly Bunder, Adler Center marketing coordinator. "We know our community always looks forward to seeing his work."
Robert Klunk's work will be on display at the David Adler Music & Arts Center through Saturday, Jan. 10. The gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. Admission is always free.
Located in the historic home of architect, David Adler, The David Adler Music and Arts Center is dedicated to promoting music and the arts across Lake County and Southern Wisconsin. The Adler Center is located at 1700 N. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville.
