Kane Co. Regional Office of Education celebrates student photography

On Dec. 16, the Kane County Regional Office of Education hosted more than 100 students, parents, graduates, college recruiters, professional photographers and local legislators to celebrate the conclusion of the first Kane County Student Photography Initiative.

Kane County Board Chairman Chris Lauzen visited with students to congratulate them on their hard work.

As attendees viewed more than 100 pieces of artwork from 10 Kane County high schools, they were serenaded by a string-trio playing holiday music while enjoying delicious hors d'oeuvres prepared by the Geneva Culinary Club. About 600 photos were submitted this semester to be considered to be featured in the top 10 each week.

Congratulations to the students who were featured, and thank you to everyone that has been involved to highlight the arts in Kane County schools, including Dundee-Crown, Bartlett, Kaneland, St. Charles North, St. Charles East, Geneva, Batavia, Aurora Central and West Aurora high schools, and the Academy of Grace.

The Kane County Regional Office of Education is represented by Regional Superintendent Patricia Dal Santo. Its mission is to advocate for education, provide leadership, perform regulatory functions, and coordinate state and local services for educators, school districts, and the community.
