Initiative to give small grants for project ideas

RICHMOND, Ind. - A community center is looking to spur improvement projects in an eastern Indiana city with monthly $500 grants.

Wayne Township Trustee Susan Isaacs says the money raised from donations by the Grassroots Action Resource Center in Richmond will be aimed at what she hopes will be creative ideas from organizations, groups of friends or individuals.

Isaacs tells the Palladium-Item they won't put boundaries on projects that will be considered but want to boost the small things that make a community loveable.

Inspiration for the $500 Project Initiative came from a visit to Richmond this fall by "For the Love of Cities" author Peter Kageyama who described the potential impact such small projects.
