Sad to see Billy Goat leaving Randhurst

Three years ago one of the first restaurants in the newly redesigned Randhurst opened across from the AMC Theaters. The famous Billy Goat Tavern & Grill had moved into our neighborhood. I was thrilled to be able to drive only five minutes to get the "Goat" experience.

A quick cheeseburger before the movie, soon turned into a regular occurrence, as we started to meet new friends, including the staff and sharing with old friends.

Sadly, we had to say goodbye to all those new friends on Dec. 15. It was disheartening that such a great family restaurant was leaving Randhurst. There were adults, babies and children all there to wish them well on their last night. The staff took photos with the customers and wished all of us well.

Clearly the Billy Goat Tavern & Grill and their staff proved to be the perfect type of restaurant for Randhurst.

There has long been the famous Billy Goat curse, but I think the only curse here is Randhurst for letting them go. Ask anyone in the Northwest suburbs and they could tell you great memories of the original Randhurst mall - the school shows, the Christmas train, the carousel and family events.

However, the excitement of what should have been returning stores and new restaurants in the new mall is quickly dwindling. Several stores and other restaurants have come and gone. We hope that Randhurst management will figure things out before future memories are lost.

We will sorely miss the Billy Goat and their staff, but fortunately they are moving to greener pastures in Lombard, where we can still visit. Great memories can once again be synonymous with Randhurst and it is my Christmas wish that the Randhurst "elves" make some magic and bring the family mall back before it's too late.
