Illinois Brass Band performs Holiday Classics in St. Charles

The Illinois Brass Band performed their Holiday Classics concert Saturday evening at Baker Memorial United Methodist Church in St. Charles.

This is their 24th annual concert and their first time performing back in the Fox Valley since 2007.

The all volunteer band, composed of 30 brass players and two percussionists, performed traditional carols, holiday classics and some jazzy updates of Christmas songs.

Trombone player Rob Barnes of Geneva and his percussionist wife, Lisa-Ann, have been in the band 21 years. Their 17-year-old daughter, Hannah, has played coronet intermittently with the band for the past year. He described the musical collection for the evening as "a globe-trot around the world for Christmas," with musical pieces originating from several countries including Italy, France and Latin America.
