MLK 2015 Essay Contest Deadline Has Been Extended

The Martin Luther King Jr. Essay contest sponsored by FaithBridge, a consortium of faith-based communities in McHenry and Lake Counties and the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, deadline has been extended!

If you know a middle schooler, have them write 300-350 words about "How you bring about peace in the midst of challenge and controversy?" and submit it to faithbridgeessay@gmail.com by January 5. Winner receives $50, two tickets to the breakfast, and the winning essay will be read at the breakfast on MLK day.

The breakfast will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at D'Andrea Banquets (4419 Highway #14, Crystal Lake). The theme for this year's event is " Peace in the Midst of Challenge and Controversy." The program will include a Call to Prayer plus group prayer with participants from a variety of local faith traditions including Islamic, Hindu, Jewish, Buddhist, Christian and New Thought. Ernest Brooks III is our keynote speaker. His topic will be, "The World House: Realizing Dr. King's Cosmopolitan Dream."
