Dundee Lions wrap up middle school basketball tournament

The 56th annual Dundee Township Lions Club and District 300 Middle School Boys Basketball Tournament concluded on Thursday, Dec. 18, at Algonquin Middle School.

The seventh-grade championship game resulted with Dundee Middle School beating Hampshire Middle School 30 to 24.

Dundee Middle School defeated Carpentersville Middle School by the score of 45 to 35 for the eighth-grade championship.

Lion secretary Richard Robertson presented the trophies to each of the final teams.

Gene Tester, Lion chairman for the event, noted the Lions take great pride in supporting the athletic programs in the community. Profits from the event go back to the schools as well as to the Lions to support local charities. Tester also said the Lions will be holding a similar tournament for middle school girls in February. He is looking for volunteers who might want to help with the tournament. Anyone interested should call him at (847) 807-2332.
