Complex adds security after Auburn player slain

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - An apartment complex in Auburn says it's upgrading security after the fatal shooting of an Auburn football player.

Managers at Tiger Lodge apartments say they've hired a new security company to patrol the property and are considering additional gates.

They're also adding identification checks at some times and trying to work more closely with Auburn police.

Management posted a letter announcing the changes following the killing last weekend of Auburn football player Jakell Mitchell. Two more one-time Auburn players and a third man were slain at the same complex in 2012.

The apartments are home to more than 600 students, and some say they want to break their leases. Also, a prosecutor says he's looking at ways to have the area declared a public nuisance.
