Naperville doctor charged with sexually assaulting patients

A Naperville doctor has been charged with sexually assaulting and abusing three patients at his Yorkville office.

Dr. Haohua Yang, 50, was arrested after Kendall County prosecutors charged him Tuesday with three counts of criminal sexual assault and five counts of criminal sexual abuse.

Three patients reported that they were touched inappropriately by Yang during office visits between May 2012 and January 2014.

Yang is a physician and surgeon at Yorkville Medical clinic, 654 W. Veteran's Parkway. He also has an office at 1795 S. Washington St. in Naperville, but none of the three incidents were reported to have occurred there.

Due to safety, officials with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation on Wednesday suspended Yang's license to practice medicine.

“When the department feels there's imminent danger to the public, if a doctor's license remains active, we'll take action to temporarily suspend it,” said Sue Hofer, a department spokeswoman.

Yang is ordered to appear at a hearing before the state medical disciplinary board on Dec. 30, though it's possible that could be delayed due to the criminal proceedings.

Bail was set at $150,000, of which 10 percent was required to be released. Authorities at the Kendall County jail said Thursday night Yang had been released.

Yang's clinic's website says he graduated from medical school in 1987 and is board certified in internal medicine. He is on the staff of Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora and Valley West Hospital in Sandwich.

Hofer said any patient of Yang that may have concerns about his treatment can contact Yorkville police or file a complaint at idfpr.com.
